Nearly 2 million tourists visited Kazakhstan’s national parks in the first 7 months of 2025

In the first 7 months of 2025, around 2 million tourists visited Kazakhstan’s national parks. The figures demonstrate growing interest in nature-based and ecological tourism within the country.

The leader in attendance is the Burabay State National Nature Park, which welcomed over 600,000 visitors from January to July this year. The park is located in the Akmola Region and is often referred to as the "Kazakh Switzerland" for its unique combination of pine forests, rocks, and lakes. Burabay is popular among family tourists, active holidaymakers, and wellness tourism enthusiasts.

The second most popular is the Ile-Alatau National Park — its natural landscapes and proximity to the metropolis of Almaty attracted 507,541 tourists. The area is notable for its rich biodiversity, mountain trails, and is in high demand for ecotourism.

The third position is held by the Kolsai Lakes National Park in the Almaty Region. In the first 7 months of this year, more than 350,000 tourists visited this natural site. The highlights of the park are the picturesque mountain lakes Kolsai and Kaindy.

Also among the five most visited national parks are the Charyn and Bayanaul National Parks.

Charyn National Park is located in the Almaty Region and is known for the eponymous canyon — a unique natural monument. It is frequently visited by photography tour enthusiasts, jeep tour participants, and ethno-expeditions.

Bayanaul National Park is located in the Pavlodar Region. It is the first national park established in Kazakhstan. The park is known for its mild climate, mountain landscapes, and clean lakes.
